...black and white pictures. I just love the look and depth that black and white offers. My nieces are always my most willing models and up for anything, so last night we did a sunset shoot. I am in love with my 50mm and the fantastic bokeh shots that it offers. Aren't the girls just beautiful! Thanks for a fun night M and K!!

Texas Capitol

I recently took a trip to Austin, TX and had a chance to see the Capitol building. I also got a 50mm lens on this trip, so of course, I had to try it out.

This session was photographed at the University of Texas at Austin. It was a beautiful spring day and this couple could not have been more laid back and fun.

Signs of spring

It was nice to see signs of life return to the trees. This winter has been cold for much of the United States and many people are anxious to see a little more sun and warmth come their way with the end of winter. Even though there is sun almost daily in New Mexico, it is a pleasure to see the little blossoms pushing forth.

Have you ever noticed that nobody wears hats anymore? It is rare to see more than the occasional baseball hat or cowboy hat. My husband decided to style a fedora to his grandfather's funeral. It was quite a statement and hopefully it will start a trend and inspire a generation to dress with class now and again.

The light reflected in the water from the bridge was so serene. This is the view from the Queen Mary, which is docked right off the coast overlooking the Long Beach skyline.

This is a picture from our recent trip to California. Valentine's night we went out to Long Beach Pier to get some dinner at Ruby's (if you haven't been, it is a must!) and this was our view. Lovely!!

An Unexpected Guest {New Mexico Photographer}

We went on a little getaway for the New Year's weekend and were pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful creature lodging nearby with several others from the herd. It was a lovely, snowy way to start off 2010...plus, did I mention a new camera? It was a terrific weekend filled with lots of picture taking, relaxing and time to reflect on last year and the one ahead. Happy New Year to all!

This was such a fun couple to photograph. They were filled with smiles and laughs, and the whole session just seemed so filled with joy. I love photographing newly engaged couples filled with the anticipation of the upcoming wedding and a life of endless possibilities ahead. Best wishes to you both as you begin your journey together!

It was so fun to explore Mesilla and go leaf hunting. It may be a little harder to find leaves turning in New Mexico, but this time of year, you just have to keep your eyes open to see God's beauty all around you. This fun-loving couple has great things in their future! You can certainly feel the love in these pictures.

3 Days Old

This little guy was only 3 days old and full of squishiness and love for our session. He was wide awake for the first half of our session but didn't fuss one bit. Once he fell asleep he was so dreamy and easy to work with. What a great baby! It was clear by all of the family coming and going during our session that he will have lots of love all around him.

I could feel autumn in the air tonight. There was a crisp breeze, the smell of fireplaces burning and talk of pumpkin patches and corn mazes all around. This picture reminds me of autumn - maybe it is the cozy hat and the warm colors, but whatever the case this is one lovely little girl.

I have just returned from a fabulous workshop with Skye Hardwick in Laguna Beach. It was a great time to connect with other photographers from around the country and get tips and tricks for photographing kids. On Saturday afternoon we had the chance to test our skills and here are a few of the beauties I had the opportunity to capture. They were lovely!!

Can you believe this beautiful baby boy is 6 weeks old? He was born premature and has just recently come home from the hospital. This family was kind enough to allow me into their home for an afternoon of photographs to remember this fun stage - 6 weeks and 6 pounds, which is quite a mile marker for this little guy who has quite a mountain to climb his first year of life!!

I found these great umbrellas and couldn't wait to try them out for a photo shoot. M and K were ready to play and willing to model my new photo accessories. I think they will be a big hit. We may not get to use umbrellas very often in New Mexico, but they sure make for a great backdrop!

I have had the privilege of being a part of each of these beauties lives since birth, and it is amazing to me the wonderful little personalities that they are growing into. Each of them has a different way of expressing their emotions, yet since they are siblings, they have some similarities.

...is getting married. Wow. I can't believe it, but another wedding is upon my family. My little sister is getting married this weekend. The 4th of July, 2009 she will be wed to her true love. Miss K went and picked a flower for her mother and sat down to wait for her to come home. She was quite determined this was the perfect gift. What once was a weed, was now a beautiful blossom.
